CiaoLapo ETS Foundation

by Fondazione CiaoLapo

Research, training, and support for conscious perinatality

Who we are

The CiaoLapo ETS Foundation was established in 2019 to promote research and education in the perinatal area, building on the 20-year experience of theCiaoLapo APS ETS Association, founded in 2006 by physicians Claudia Ravaldi and Alfredo Vannacci following the loss of their son Lapo, who was born lifeless at term.

We aim to improve the quality of health, psychological and social care in complex birth pathways through:

  • independent scientific research;
  • Evidence-based training for perinatal health workers;
  • Promotion of the rights of women, children and families;
  • Integrated psychological support for parents affected by perinatal bereavement.

What we do

📊 Research and innovation

  • Coordination of the PeaRL Perinatal Research Laboratory., in collaboration with the University of Florence.
  • Clinical, epidemiological, and psychosocial research projects on bereavement, perinatal mental health, medication use in pregnancy, and prevention.
  • Production of theses, publications and participation in national and international research calls.

🎓 Operator training

  • Over 1,000 health workers trained each year.
  • Accredited courses based on international guidelines.
  • Dissemination of best practices for empathic and trauma-informed care.

💙 Support for families

  • 1,000+ couples supported each year by trained professionals.
  • National network of 15 self-help groups.
  • Free resources for parents and caregivers (guides, webinars, information materials).

A participatory and innovative approach

The CiaoLapo Foundation is a benchmark in Italy for the active involvement of parents and professionals in setting research priorities, co-designing educational interventions, and evaluating the impact of best practices.

Through a multidisciplinary, evidence-oriented approach that respects families’ experiences, we protect all aspects of perinatal health.
